Meet Noella, Para Athlete

Noella has defied limitations and achieved remarkable milestones in her life and with horses.

She was born with a rare arteriovenous malformation from her toe to her hip in her right leg and later became an above-knee amputee.

Noella doesn’t know the word “can’t”, and despite being a leg behind the other competitors, she has never shied away from an event with predominantly “able-bodied” riders.

Out of the saddle, Noella's accomplishments are equally impressive. She placed the AWAPA National Whipcracking titles in 2010 and regularly runs clinics around the country. She graduated with a Diploma of Equine Management from Marcus Oldhams College and has taken up Para Ice Hockey in her spare time.

Noella’s story is one of resilience, kinship, passion and the strength of acceptance.

Noella's journey in the equestrian world is marked by her unwavering dedication and resilience in the face of substantial challenges. Before her life with horses, she spent five years struggling with a rare medical condition that took an extensive period to diagnose. Seeking treatment, her family lived between Australia and the USA for six years. This period was a mix of painful treatments and remarkable adventures. Despite the hurdles, this experience helped Noella embrace her identity and fuel her unstoppable spirit, leading her to achieve remarkable success in her equestrian career.

Her presentations can encompass a variety of topics, including personal journeys, fostering inclusivity in equestrian sports, and offering practical strategies for rider support.

RIDER COACHING

In addition to rider coaching and club education-focused clinics, Noella curates engaging opportunities for people to learn to crack an Australian stockwhip. Her whipcracking clinics are a fast favourite - not only offering a truly Aussie experience but also providing a unique skill-building activity. Cracking can be offered in groups, on-on-one and with your horses.

Noella shares her whipcracking skills with her Australian Stockwhips from Rennic Whips.

She' loves this Aussie sport and enjoys coaching crackers from beginner to advance. Noella also has a natural ability to coach and train riders to whip whips on horseback and crack on horse back.
